Adityapur Railway Station gets Lactation Room for Nursing Mothers

Jamshedpur: Women traveling through Adityapur Railway Station can now access a modern, dedicated lactation room. The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City spearheaded the initiative to provide breastfeeding mothers with a safe and hygienic space to care for their infants while on the move.

Senior railway officials and members of the Rotary Club attended the inauguration ceremony to open the new facility.

Modern Amenities for Maximum Privacy

The newly inaugurated lactation room features a child-friendly environment tailored to ensure privacy and convenience for nursing mothers.

The club has equipped the facility with several modern amenities:

• Climate Control: Full air conditioning to combat travel exhaustion.
• Comfortable Seating: Sofa arrangements that can easily accommodate up to four women at a time.
• Sanitation Stations: Separate wet and dry waste disposal bins to maintain clinical hygiene.
• Infant Care: A dedicated baby-changing table for quick diaper switches.

A Joint Effort for Inclusive Travel

Representing the railways at the launch were Senior Divisional Commercial Manager A.K. Chaudhary, Area Railway Manager Sameer Saurav, Chief Commercial Inspector Rakesh Kumar Rai, and Deputy Station Superintendent Sunil Singh, alongside several Commercial Department officials.

On the partner side, Rotary Club members including Krishna Kharia, Smita Parikh, Amrita Vakharia, Savak Patel and Manju Bharma attended the opening.

“This facility reflects our club’s commitment to community welfare and public service,” a Rotary Club member stated. “We wanted to create a dignified space where mothers can breastfeed or attend to their infants without facing any public inconvenience.”

Railway officials welcomed the project and thanked the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City for enhancing passenger amenities. They noted that the lactation room will significantly upgrade the travel experience for women and infants, making Adityapur Railway Station far more inclusive. Authorities expressed hope that the railway division will replicate this successful model across other regional stations soon.
