Jharkhand Crime: 3-Year-Old Girl Strangled and Dumped in Well; 2 Arrested

Godda (Jharkhand): Police arrested two men on Friday for allegedly strangling a three-year-old girl to death and dumping her body into a well in Jharkhand’s Godda district.

The Incident

The victim, identified as Nisha Soren, had been staying at her maternal grandmother’s house in Makundi Santhali Tola. She went missing on Thursday afternoon, prompting a massive search operation by family members and local residents.

How the Accused Were Caught

The search took a grim turn around midnight when villagers spotted a man dumping a sack in a well. After noticing his suspicious behaviour, the group intercepted him as he attempted to flee. According to local reports, the man admitted the sack contained the missing child’s body.

Villagers retrieved the body from the well and identified the first suspect as Prem Murmu. During the confrontation, Murmu reportedly named an accomplice, Jarmen Soren. The crowd apprehended both men and thrashed them before alerting the authorities.

Police Action

Mufassil police station in-charge Anand Saha arrived at the scene with a team to rescue the suspects from the angry mob. Both men were admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment under police custody.

The police sent the girl’s body for a post-mortem examination. While the motive remains unclear, Saha confirmed that the two neighbours allegedly strangled the child. Interrogations are ongoing to establish why the murder was committed.
