Chaibasa, May 31: Reshmi Kumari, a resident of Nimdih’s New Colony in Chaibasa, has brought pride to West Singhbhum district by becoming the state topper in the Commerce stream of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Class 12 examinations. The results were announced on Saturday. Reshmi, a student of St Xavier Girls Inter College, secured 476 marks out of 500, achieving an impressive score of 95.2 percent.
Despite coming from a modest background, Reshmi’s achievement has brought immense joy to her family and the local community. Her father, Rajesh Prasad, earns a livelihood by selling clothes near the Chaibasa bus stand, while her mother, Reena Prasad, is a homemaker. Reshmi has now set her sights on pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), followed by an MBA. However, she has appealed to the state government for financial assistance to continue her education.
“I owe my success to the guidance of my college teachers and the support of my family,” said Reshmi. She emphasized that her family’s financial condition remained a major hurdle in fulfilling her academic goals.
The faculty of St Xavier Girls Inter College expressed pride in Reshmi’s accomplishment, crediting her dedication and consistent hard work. “Reshmi has always been a focused and sincere student,” said one of her teachers.
Following closely behind Reshmi is Hasan Seikh from Government +2 High School, Mihizam, who secured 475 marks. Piyush Shaw, also from the same school, came third with 474 marks.
Reshmi’s success has been widely celebrated, with education department officials and local representatives extending their congratulations. The overall pass percentage in the Commerce stream stood at a strong 91.2%, reflecting a commendable performance by students across the state.
Ankit Kumar Sah of Noamundi Inter College, also from West Singhbhum, has secured the second position in the state in the Science stream, further highlighting the academic talent emerging from the region.
