Nod for sub-committee to determine reservation percentage of tribals, backward
Ranchi, August 20: In two major decisions aimed at wooing tribal populace Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave nod for withdrawal of Pathalgari cases and formation of a sub-committee to look into reservation percentage of tribals and backward classes.
On Saturday, chief minister gave his consent to the proposal related to withdrawal of cases lodged against tribals for taking part in Pathalgadi in protest against government move of amendment in CNT/SPT in the year 2016 at Gumla police station.
The nod would led to withdrawal of the case number-421/2016 registered in Gumla police station against Pathalgadi supporters during the erstwhile Raghubar Das led BJP government.
Approval to the draft proposed resolution of Home, Prison and Disaster Management Department related to the withdrawal of people against whom FIRs have been filed in Gumla Police Station Case No.-421/2016 for opposing the amendment in CNT/SPT and doing Pathalgadi
With this decision of the Chief Minister, those people against whom FIR was registered in order to protest against amendment in CNT/SPT under Gumla police station and for doing Pathalgadi, will now get relief.
The tradition of Pathalgadi (inscription) with rituals and rituals is old in the tribal community and village of Jharkhand. Pathalgadi gives information about land demarcation, gram sabha and tribal rights. There is also a tradition of Pathalgadi to preserve the memory of ancestor and in memory of dead persons. In many villages, Pathalgadi has also been done in honor of the brave sons who died fighting against the British or enemies.
Chief Minister also approved the formation of a sub-committee to suggest the reservation percentage for ST, SC and Backward Classes.
The sub-committee would submit suggestions after discussing the percentage of reservation for ST, SC, Extremely Backward Classes (annexure-1) and Backward Classes (Article-2) in Jharkhand State.
It is to be known that the present government is contemplating to increase the reservation limit in the state. For this a sub-committee will be constituted. This high-level sub-committee will dedicate its suggestion to the state government after considering every point regarding increasing the reservation limit for ST, SC and backward classes in Jharkhand.
