Ranchi, September 27: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday wrote to the Union Health Ministry, seeking a detailed probe into the deaths of excise constable recruitment physical test.
Addressing a function to mark the handing over of appointment letters to successful candidates in Ranchi, Soren said, “It is worrying and disturbing to see the death of over a dozen aspirants during the excise constable recruitment test. Efforts are being made to uncover the actual reasons behind the deaths. Jharkhand youths are not so weak that they cannot run 10 km.”
“We have written to the Union Health Minister JP Nadda, for help in conducting a detailed probe into the matter. I want to uncover the real truth behind these deaths,” Soren added.

He called upon the new appointees, reminding them that they are an integral part of the government and should fulfill their social responsibility.
“Do not consider this just a job. You are being given an opportunity to fulfill social responsibility. I am confident that you will use your skills and efficiency to propel the state’s development forward,” Soren said.
On this occasion, he congratulated the newly selected candidates and presented appointment letters to 527 candidates who had succeeded in various competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
The Chief Minister highlighted that after Jharkhand became a separate state, the issue of cadre division came to the fore. In many departments, cadre division of officers and personnel had not been completed for years. As a result, work continued under temporary systems for an extended period.
“When appointments were made to some posts, there was a lot of confusion surrounding them. In such circumstances, both the state and its youth had to bear the consequences of not making appointments. After the Covid pandemic, we began reviewing departmental operations and found that a large number of positions were vacant in various departments. We also discovered that appointment rules had not yet been established for various cadres in many departments. Our government expedited the process of forming appointment rules for all cadres across all departments,” Soren explained.
The Chief Minister further stated that after the formation of his government, the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination was completed in record time without controversy.
“Today, Block Development Officers (BDOs), Circle Officers (COs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and other officers are serving the state. Previously, it would take years to complete a JPSC examination process, and every examination was fraught with controversy. However, under our government, the exams were conducted in a fair and transparent manner, enabling a large number of underprivileged youths to succeed through their hard work,” Soren asserted.
He also mentioned that along with filling vacant government positions, thousands of youth have been provided employment in the non-government sector as well.
Soren suggested starting a tradition of rewarding officers and personnel for excellent work, to further boost their enthusiasm and morale.
