Ranchi, January 15: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren is learnt to have replied to the letter of federal agency Enforcement Directorate on Monday.
Incidentally, ED had on Saturday wrote a letter to Hemant Soren asking him to appear before its Ranchi office between January 16-20 in an alleged land scam case in Ranchi. The letter in which the ED had asked to consider it as a summon had also indicated that if the chief minister does not appear before the ED then it could come to his office for questioning.
The ED had in the letter said that so far they had summoned the chief minister seven times but he has not deposed before them.
Meanwhile, source in the ED office at Ranchi confirmed that a special messenger from chief minister’s office had arrived with a sealed letter on Monday late afternoon. However, the content of the letter could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
Incidentally, earlier this year Hemant Soren in reply to the seventh summon of the ED had criticised the federal agency terming its probe into the alleged money laundering charges over a land scam in Ranchi and chief minister’s role in it as ‘baseless and biased’.
