Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren pushes for 25,000 govt jobs by Independence Day

Ranchi: The state government has begun preparations to fill long-pending vacancies across various departments after Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed officials to compile updated vacancy data. The move aims to accelerate recruitment in a phased manner, with around 25,000 appointments expected to be announced or appointment letters distributed on Independence Day.

According to government data, there are 3,51,968 sanctioned regular posts across state departments. Of these, only 1,87,610 are currently filled, leaving a large number of vacancies, particularly in the Education, Health and Home departments.

The government said recruitment for posts that have already been advertised will be expedited. The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) have been directed to complete pending examinations and selection processes at the earliest. Fresh requisitions received from departments will also be processed without delay.

Upcoming recruitment is expected to include assistant teachers for government schools, doctors, nurses and other medical personnel for the Health Department, as well as engineers and technical staff for road, bridge and infrastructure projects. If the recruitment process proceeds as planned, nearly 25,000 appointments could be announced or appointment letters issued on August 15.

Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore said the government’s priority is to address the shortage of manpower in state departments. He said more than 40,000 appointments have already been made during the current government’s tenure and efforts are now focused on filling the remaining vacancies. He added that, following the Chief Minister’s directions, recruitment across education, health, home, engineering and other departments has been accelerated, with recruitment agencies instructed to complete pending selection processes quickly.
