Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren orders stern action against illegal mining

Special drive between June 1-15, toll free number for mining complaints

Ranchi, May 21: Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave a stern directive that illegal mining will not be accepted under any circumstances.

“Any kind of illegal mining should be stopped at all costs. Ensure immediate strict action against mafias and those involved in illegal mining. Develop an effective mechanism to check illegal mining. Illegal mining is being done deliberately by some mining mafia so that the image of the present government can be tarnished,” said Hemant Soren at a review meeting with the deputy commissioners and superintendent of police of all 24 districts through video conference at Ranchi.

The Chief Minister has directed to check illegal mining activity by giving strict instructions to the officers posted in coal mining districts like Dhanbad, Hazaribagh etc. and Pakur, Chaibasa, Latehar, Ranchi etc. If illegal mining happened, now the officers are not well. The state government has directed for strict action. The state government is seen in action mode to stop illegal mining.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren warned the officials that illegal mining would not be tolerated in any part of the state. Chief Minister told the officers that it is their responsibility to stop illegal mining, be it major mineral or minor mineral. Strict action will be taken against the officials who are negligent in stopping illegal mining.

A special team will also be formed at the state level to stop illegal mining. The state government will keep a close watch at every level. The Chief Minister said that the officers posted in the districts should take the complaints of illegal mining seriously. Ensure strict action on complaints of illegal mining immediately.

The Chief Minister said to issue a toll-free number for receiving complaints related to illegal mining.

The Chief Minister said that illegal mining increases the chances of accidents. Many times such information is received that people are being buried inside the tunnels in illegal mining areas. The

Chief Minister said that on the mining side where there is a possibility of accident, identify it and do the work of demolishing it. The Chief Minister said that complaints are being received that some people steal coal even through transport. Coal is being dumped at various places on the road and rail route. Somewhere coal is being stolen by chain pulling etc. Jharkhand Police and RPF should work together to stop this type of coal theft by making mutual coordination.

The Chief Minister directed that the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of all the districts should ensure strict action against illegal mining by running a special campaign from June 1 to June 15.

The Chief Minister directed that strictest action should be taken against the people involved in illegal mining and the mafia by preparing effective mechanism as per convenience on the mining areas.

After June 15, a high-level meeting related to illegal mining will be held. The Chief Minister has directed the officers of all the districts to keep information about the activities being done by the district administration to stop illegal mining in front of the media once a week.

Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure installation of CCTV cameras in the mining areas and checkposts located in the districts. Direct the government or non-government companies doing mining to install CCTV cameras on the mining side and in the offices for monitoring.

The Chief Minister said that complaints have been received that illegal sand mining is taking place in the rivers. Stop illegal mining in rivers at all costs. It is also necessary to save water resources. Illegal mining in rivers has adverse effects on the environment.

In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of various districts placed before the Chief Minister about the latest works being done to stop illegal mining.
