Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren appoints new doctors, urges them to serve as “Gods on Earth”

Ranchi/Jamshedpur, Sept 25: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday addressed a grand appointment ceremony at the state secretariat, presenting appointment letters to 160 newly inducted doctors, including assistant professors, dental surgeons, and medical officers.

He exhorted the medical professionals to approach their work as a sacred responsibility, calling it a “divine appointment on earth.”

Speaking at the ceremony, CM Soren said, “The poor, vulnerable, and marginalized of this state have high hopes pinned on you. I am confident that your spirit of service will strengthen and enhance the healthcare system here.”

He emphasized that medical officers play a pivotal role in reinforcing the state’s health infrastructure and that their appointment marks a significant step in this direction.

Compassion Must Translate into Action

Addressing the newly appointed doctors, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of empathy in the healthcare sector. “Choosing healthcare as a career comes with immense responsibility. Your sensitivity toward the underprivileged must not remain theoretical—it must manifest in tangible benefits for the people,” he urged.

Making a Difference Within Limited Resources

CM Soren acknowledged the constraints of limited resources but stressed that significant impact is possible with dedication and commitment.

“Patients require not just treatment but also your compassion and humane care. Your behavior and approach can profoundly improve the environment for them,” he added.

Building a Robust Healthcare System

The Chief Minister underscored the ongoing challenges in the healthcare sector and the need for continual research and innovation.

“Doctors are the backbone of our strategy to strengthen healthcare. The government has set up a framework where your collaboration will ensure better facilities and resources for the people,” he said.

Collective Responsibility for Emerging Health Challenges

Highlighting emerging health threats, CM Soren remarked, “Many modern diseases are man-made, and their solutions lie in our collective efforts. The Covid-19 pandemic taught us that proactive management and coordination can overcome even unprecedented challenges.”

Recognizing Excellence in Healthcare

He further instructed the health department to identify and honor doctors demonstrating exemplary service across the state, stating that such recognition would boost morale and inspire continued excellence.

The appointment ceremony was also attended by Health Minister  Irfan Ansari, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Ajay Kumar Singh, NHM Campaign Director Shashi Prakash Jha, and Special Secretary of the Health Department Neha Arora.

Among the 160 appointed doctors, 54 assistant professors were selected through JPSC, 55 specialist medical officers under NHM contracts, 38 medical officers, and 13 dental surgeons.
