Jharkhand CM for checking ground realities of tree plantation

Ranchi, June 12: Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to check the ground reality of tree plantation done by the Forest Department at their level.

He said that even after tree plantation every year, the expansion of forests is not increasing. While reviewing the Swachh Bharat Mission, he directed the officers to link the toilet construction scheme with the Abua Housing Scheme (state sponsored housing scheme for the homeless poor). He was reviewing other schemes including the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department on Wednesday.

Champai Soren said that every year lakhs of trees are planted by the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, but the expansion of forests is not increasing as per the target. The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to check the status of tree plantation done by the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department at their level. These should be protected at all costs. Proper maintenance of trees will make the tree plantation scheme successful.

While reviewing the Swachh Bharat Mission, Chief Minister Champai Soren directed the officials to link the toilet construction scheme with the Abua Housing Scheme of the state government. In the Abua housing that has been approved, start the process of construction of toilets under this scheme soon.
