Geo-tagging, ICT labs at state-owned schools
Ranchi, July 19: “Quality education and proper facilities related to education to the children in government schools is the top priority of the government, stressed chief minister Hemant Soren during a high level review of department of School Education and Literacy at Ranchi on Tuesday.
In this meeting, Hemant Soren gave many instructions to the officers while reviewing the appointment of teachers, operation of model schools and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) programs in government schools.
The Chief Minister said that studies should not be hampered due to shortage of teachers in the schools. He directed to expedite the teacher appointment process. On this occasion, it was informed by the department that the approval of the administrative division committee has been received on the proposal for creation of about 50,000 posts of assistant professor. Now the approval of the cabinet is to be taken on this.
At the same time, requisition has been sent to the personnel department for the recruitment of 5610 teachers and 690 laboratory assistants in Plus Two schools, whereas, necessary action is being taken for the appointment of 979 teachers and 267 laboratory assistants in model schools.
The Chief Minister said that education of children should be ensured in government schools in a modern way. The software and e-content should be updated regularly in the schools where there is a system of smart classes. It was informed by the department that at present ICT labs have been installed in 974 schools and by the end of this year it will be made operational in 3 920 schools. The department has started action on the plan to set up ICT labs in middle schools along with secondary schools.
The secretary of the Department Rajesh Sharma apprised the Chief Minister that model schools have been sanctioned in 89 backward blocks for English medium education in the state. Of these, education has started in 84 schools. In these schools established at the block level, the students are selected through the Jharkhand Academic Council. Because of this many children do not enroll. The Chief Minister said that necessary steps should be taken keeping all the options in mind to ensure the attendance of the children in these schools. He also directed for geo-tagging of all schools.
