Jharkhand CM appears in court in ED summons case

Mail News Service

Ranchi, Dec 6: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren appeared before the MP/MLA court in Ranchi on Saturday in a case related to alleged non-compliance with Enforcement Directorate summons.

Soren submitted two bail bonds of Rs 7,000 each, as directed by the Jharkhand High Court while hearing his plea for exemption from personal appearance.

The MP/MLA court has scheduled the next hearing for December 12, which will be attended by his counsel.

Following compliance with the High Court’s directive, the Chief Minister has now been permitted to join future proceedings through video conferencing instead of appearing physically.

The case stems from an ED complaint accusing Soren of not responding to multiple summons issued in connection with a land-related investigation.

Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan and advocate Pradeep Chandra were present during the proceedings.
