Jharkhand CM admits illegal mining tarnished state’s image

Champai reviews law and order, stresses on disposal of tribal land cases

Ranchi, June 11: Chief Minister Champai Soren while holding a high level review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police / Superintendents of Police of the districts directed to stop crimes and admitted that state image is getting tarnished due to illegal mining and law and order issues.

He gave many important instructions after a high level review of law and order, crime and extremism control, action against illegal mining, drug and alcohol smuggling and sale and matters related to forest, excise and land revenue.

The chief minister said that  nature of crime is also changing every day. In such a situation, the challenge of the police also increases and stressed on work style and strong information system will prove to be very effective in controlling crime. He said that along with dealing with the current challenges of crime, also make a strategy to deal with future challenges.

The Chief Minister said that today there are many such latest technologies, through which crime can be used to know and understand as well as control it. The police always needs to be updated with such modern technology.

He also asked to study arrangement for maintaining law and order in other states, so that if needed, it can be used according to the conditions of Jharkhand. He also emphasized on improving the traffic system.

The Chief Minister said that better coordination between DC and SP in any district strengthens law and order and crime control. He said that better coordination between DC and SP brings better results. This gives impetus to development

The Chief Minister said that the image of the state has been affected due to illegal mining. The government is very serious about stopping illegal mining. All necessary steps should be taken to stop illegal mining and its transportation, especially of coal, sand, iron ore and stone.

He also said that evicted tribals should be given possession of their land soon. The CM said that ensure that the tribals get possession of land in those land disputes related to Scheduled Tribes in which the court’s degree has been passed.

He also said that ensure the disposal of cases registered under SC-ST Act on priority basis as soon as possible.

He further said, full care should be taken that people do not face any kind of trouble due to police camps in Naxal-affected areas.
