Jharkhand CEO reviews preparations for Lok Sabha Elections in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 10: K. Ravi Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, visited Jamshedpur on Wednesday to review preparations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. He held discussions with District Election Officer Ananya Mittal at the Circuit House to assess the readiness of East Singhbhum district for the upcoming elections. Expressing satisfaction with the district’s preparations, he emphasized the need for basic facilities at polling stations and directed officials to prioritize arrangements for disabled and elderly voters for their comfort in voting. Special instructions were given to ensure adequate arrangements for sheds, drinking water, toilets, and seating chairs at polling stations, considering the heat and sunlight.

During his field visit, the Chief Electoral Officer inspected the preparations at the Gandhi Ashram polling center and the community hall located at New Baradwari in the urban area. He obtained information about Absent, Shifted, Dead Voters (ASD) from the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) and Booth Level Officer (BLO). Detailed information was gathered regarding seating arrangements, voting compartments, home voting preparations, registration of new voters, and other related matters for the day of voting.

Kumar directed officials to ensure that voters faced no inconvenience at polling stations. Additionally, he gave instruction for the construction of ramps according to disability standards and walk footmark signage for blind voters to facilitate their access to drinking water and toilets.

Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, District Supply Officer Salman Zafar Khizri, District Planning Officer Arun Dwivedi, Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, Municipal Engineer, and others were present during the visit.
