Approves 43 proposals, nod to commission on OBC quota in civic bodies

Ranchi, June 26: In a meeting of the Jharkhand Cabinet today, 43 proposals were approved, highlighting significant decisions made by the state government. One of the key resolutions involved the creation of posts for appointments in upgraded secondary schools across the state. With 189 such schools in Jharkhand, a total of 3960 posts have been created for recruitment.

These positions will encompass various roles, including teachers, clerks, and other employees. Specifically, there will be 1,890 clerk positions and 2,079 posts for other employees. Additionally, a budget of Rs. 25 crore has been allocated to establish a degree college in Gola, under the purview of Vinoba Bhave University. Furthermore, smartphones will be provided to Anganwadi workers and helpers throughout the state, with a cost of Rs. 8,000 (including GST) per device. A total of 29,834 employees will benefit from this initiative. (w/nm)

Dedicated Commission for OBC reservations

The Jharkhand cabinet granted approval for the establishment of a dedicated commission responsible for conducting a survey to determine reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in urban local body (ULB) elections. This decision aligns with the Supreme Court’s directive on the “triple test” for OBC reservations, as officials confirmed. In this regard formation of the State Backward Commission was also approved. The commission will be responsible for addressing and evaluating matters related to backward communities in the state. Additionally, it was decided that a triple test for OBC (Other Backward Classes) reservation will be conducted throughout the entire state before the municipal elections take place. This responsibility has been assigned to the State Backward Commission.

Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel, addressing reporters after the meeting, stated, “The cabinet approved the proposal of the urban development department to notify a dedicated commission for conducting a survey for granting reservations to backward classes in elections for urban local bodies.”

Apollo Hospital to be built in Kalyanpur of Namkum

The cabinet meeting also addressed the construction of Apollo Hospital, where a slight alteration was made. Previously, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation had allotted 2.83 acres of land in Ghaghra, Doranda for the hospital’s construction. However, this allotment has been canceled, and instead, 2.75 acres of land in Kalyanpur Mauja, Namkum zone, has been provided. The lease agreement grants Apollo Hospital usage rights for 99 years, with a payment of Rs. 12.52 crore to the government. Upon completion of the lease period, a renewal fee equivalent to 10% of the prevailing market value will be charged.

Women permitted to work night shifts in factories

The approval of the Factory Act 2023 has paved the way for women to undertake night shifts in factories. This decision marks a significant development in employment opportunities for women, allowing them to work from 10 PM to 6 AM. The factory management has also received authorization to create the Jharkhand State Disabled Rights Manual 2023, ensuring the safety and well-being of disabled individuals within factory premises.

Furthermore, the cabinet has resolved to allocate land for the construction of Shri Krishna Lok Seva Sansthan’s building in the HEC hut. This decision aims to support the growth and expansion of the organization.

The approval of the Factory Act 2023 demonstrates the government’s commitment to gender equality and inclusivity in the workforce, while simultaneously prioritizing the safety and rights of all employees, including disabled individuals.

Rs 53 Crore plan for Central University of Jharkhand approach road

The state government has agreed to implement a revised plan aimed at resolving the issue of the approach road to the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ). The proposed plan, valued at Rs 53,44,39,000, encompasses a length of 1.78 kilometers and includes provisions for land acquisition to facilitate the construction of the access road.

Multiple other proposals also approved

Several other proposals were approved by the Jharkhand government, focusing on diverse areas of development and governance.

One significant decision involved the allocation of 150 acres of land to Azim Premji University for the construction of a medical college. Additionally, the cabinet granted approval for the establishment of the Jharkhand State Accounts Clerical Service Cadre (Recruitment, Promotion, and Other Service Conditions) Rules 2023. Moreover, an amendment was made to the Jharkhand Advocates Welfare Fund Act, requiring the use of a Rs 30 stamp paper for Vakalatnama, affidavit, and other legal documents. Furthermore, the cabinet endorsed a plan to digitize panchayats, emphasizing the importance of digital initiatives in local governance.
