Ranchi: The Jharkhand cabinet is set to consider a proposal allowing inspectors and sub-inspectors to investigate cases registered under the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. Previously, this authority was exclusive to DSP level officers. The proposed amendment is slated for discussion in the cabinet meeting scheduled for November 22.
Additionally, the cabinet is expected to review a proposal to allocate Rs 1.20 crore for a total of 24 victims/dependents of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Bokaro. The recommended amount will be disbursed from the contingency fund, following the guidance of Anti-Sikh Riots Commission (Ranchi) Chairman DP Singh.
Furthermore, the cabinet will deliberate on increasing the honorarium for Parganait from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000 per month. Another notable agenda is the potential dismissal of Dr. Lavleen Pandey, a doctor at the Primary Health Center (PHC) of Hariharganj in Palamu.
Looking ahead, the cabinet is expected to discuss a proposal to designate Jamshedpur as an industrial town. The winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly is anticipated to convene between December 15 to 22, with preparations underway from the government. The session proposal will be presented to the cabinet for approval. Sources suggest the state government might introduce a proposal related to pension rule amendments. If approved, government employee benefits will be limited to the first wife in cases of multiple marriages, and only the first wife will be eligible for pension benefits even after the employee’s death.
