Jamshedpur, Dec 9: Shibu Burman, Chairman of the Builder Association of India Jharkhand, has urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to dissolve the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) due to its alleged ineffectiveness in promoting the city’s development. Burman emphasized that the powers of JNAC should be transferred to the Deputy Commissioner and District Administration to streamline governance and improve the city’s overall progress.
According to Burman, the current functioning of JNAC is severely hampering the city’s development. “The city’s cleanliness, urban planning, and overall development are being negatively impacted due to the poor management of JNAC,” he stated. Burman specifically criticized JNAC’s disorganized approach in dealing with building owners and highlighted the ongoing issue of tenders being opened for road parking without providing adequate spaces for vehicles, resulting in unnecessary fines for residents.
Further pointing out the inefficiency in approving building construction plans, Burman mentioned that many cases are still pending due to slow decision-making processes. “There is a lot of delay in approving building construction plans, which is affecting the growth of the city,” he added.
In addition, Burman raised concerns about the harassment faced by business owners in obtaining trade licenses. He also referred to the issue of pan and gutka shops operating near schools and colleges, where fines are levied only sporadically. “These shops remain operational without proper checks, and fines are merely a formality,” Burman remarked.
In response to these ongoing issues, the Builder Association of India Jharkhand has decided to meet with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Urban Development Minister, and the Chief Secretary. The association plans to present a list of concerns and seek urgent resolutions. “We will meet with the concerned authorities to ensure these issues are addressed,” Burman concluded, after a meeting held on Sunday.
