Jamshedpur: The Jharkhand Basketball team is set to compete in the prestigious 40th Youth National Basketball Championship, scheduled to be held from April 9 to 16, 2025, in Puducherry. After a rigorous 10-day training camp, the final list of 12 players each for the boys’ and girls’ teams has been announced.
The training camp, conducted under the expert guidance of India team coach and Secretary of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, Mr. JP Singh, focused on enhancing player skills and fostering team coordination. Following a thorough evaluation process, the boys’ team includes Sahil Kumar (Captain), Nishant Kumar, Jitesh Kumar, Justin Khalko, Anand Kumar Mishra, Pratyush Kumar, Md Rehan Ali, Aditya Raj, Tatiya Ravi, Aditya Kumar, Uday Nair, and Lakshya Verma.
The girls’ team comprises Yasawi Sahu, Urmila Murmu, Sneha Garg, Sidhi Kumari, Sulagna Behra, Priyanshi Gupta, Bhavna Upadhyay, Mahima Chawla, Satakshi Singh, Kashish Singh, Sukriti Jaiswal, and Anushka Singh.
The boys’ team will be led by Coach Md. Arif Aftab and Manager Kinker Krishna, while the girls’ team will be guided by Coach Nizam Ali and Manager Shanta Mishra. Both teams are scheduled to depart from Tatanagar Station on the evening of April 6 to commence their journey to Puducherry for the national championship.
On the occasion of the team’s departure, Harbhajan Singh, President of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, and JP Singh, Secretary of the Association, conveyed their best wishes to all players and expressed confidence in their abilities. They encouraged the athletes to perform with dedication and represent the state with pride at the national level.
