Jamshedpur, October 18: The Jharkhand Basketball Association has launched the first-ever Jharkhand Basketball League, a three-day tournament running from October 18 to 20, 2024. Six teams from across the state are competing in the event, which is being held at the Dhatkidih Community Centre.

The participating teams include:
- Jamshedpur Jammers
- Ranchi Rangers
- East Singhbhum Eagles
- Skippers
- Hoopers
- Ballers
A unique feature of the tournament is the team composition. Each team consists of 12 players, including 6 senior, 3 junior, and 3 youth players, making this league stand out among basketball championships in the state. The winning team will receive a cash prize.

The event was inaugurated by chief guest Saryu Roy, MLA of Jamshedpur East. Guests of honor included Advocate Malkeet Singh Saini, Advocate Harendra Kumar Singh, Satbir Singh Sahota (Regional Director of SOB), Jazbee Uddin (Owner of S K Timber), and national volleyball player and coach Sashidharan.
In the opening match, Jamshedpur Jammers defeated Ballers with a score of 37-9. Amit Sharma of the Jammers was named the best player, scoring 16 points for his team.
The tournament is being overseen by key members of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, including Olympian Harbhajan Singh (President), India team coach JP Singh (Secretary), Pradeep Mukherjee (Treasurer), and Arif Aftab (Technical Chairman). Association members and officials were also in attendance at the event.

Jamshedpur, Oct 18: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy was appointed as the ‘Patron in Chief’ of the Jharkhand Basketball Association on Friday. The announcement was made by the Association’s General Secretary, JP Singh, during the inauguration of Jharkhand Basketball League Season One, held at the Dhatkidih Community Centre. Six teams from across the state, including seniors, juniors, and beginners, are participating in this first-of-its-kind event in Jharkhand. Notable figures like Olympian Harbhajan Singh, Advocate Sardar Malkit Singh, and Senior Advocate Harendra Chauhan were also present at the occasion.
