Jamshedpur : City-based several English private schools including ADLS Sunshine ( Sakchi), J H Tarapore ( Dhatkidih), Tarapore School ( Agrico), RVS Academy ( Mango ) and Little Hearts Bistupur have declared a holiday tomorrow ( Monday) in view of Jharkhand bandh. Various play schools in Bistupur, Sonari and other localities have also declared a holiday tomorrow.
The Opposition has called tomorrow’s Jharkhand bandh call in protest against recent firing incident at Barkagaon in which four youths were killed. The bandh,would impact railways, public transportation, educational institutions, shops and markets in steel city.
” The management committee took a decision this afternoon to close the school tomorrow in view of the bandh. The decision was taken in view the safety and security of the students and parents,” said Indrani Singh, principal of ADLS Sunshine School.
The Opposition parties led by JVM-P held a press meet in Jamshedpur today. Apart from JVM representatives of various other Opposition parties Congress, RJD, JD(U) and CPM were present. Later, in the evening JVM activists also took out a torch-light procession at Kashidih in Sakchi.
According to information, Long distance buses ( both private and government) for various destinations of Jharkhand including Ranchi and Deoghar would stay off the road. Moreover, city buses and auto-rickshaws won’t ply.
” We are concern over the situation and have decided that long distance buses would stay off the road during the bandh,” said Upendra Sharma, chief convenor of Jamshedpur Bus Owner’s Association.
Meanwhile, bandh supporters have planned their own strategy. ” We have decided to first target the railways. JVM and activists of other Opposition parties would head for the Tatanagar station early in the morning and disrupt movement of trains,” said Abhay Singh, central secretary of JVM. According to him, essential services like hospitals, ambulance, fire-brigade and milk vans would be kept outside the purview of bandh.
Meanwhile, banks, insurance companies, post offices and other financial Organisations will remain open. There is no bandh in banks , insurance and other financial organisations. All will remain open,” said an official of a private sector bank in Bistupur.
Shops and markets in Sakchi, Bistupur, Golmuri and other places will remain closed. The Opposition parties have appealed to the trade and business community to keep their shops and other establishments closed. The Opposition parties threatened that they would forcibly close the shops if the traders does not voluntarily close theirshops and other establishments.
Suraj Kumar SDO Dhalbhum said that the administration will also conduct video recordings of bandh protagonists enforcing bandh forcefully so that documents can be produced for nailing the bandh supporters.
Similarly, railway authorities have also been directed to initiate actions as per Railway Act for those who enter in an unauthorized manner the Tatanagar Railway Station premises, platforms and squat on railway tracks.
