Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passes GST bill

Ranchi, August 17: Thanking all the MLAs on passing the GST Constitution Bill unanimously, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that everybody has played his role in implementing ‘one nation, one tax’ system. He praised the MLAs for showing integrity above party- politic feeling.

In the special meeting called in the Monsoon Session of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, a special discussion took place on GST. After broad discussion between the govt. and opposition, this Bill was passed unanimously.

Addressing the Assembly, the CM said that the approval of GST in both the Houses of the nation and Jharkhand Legislative Assembly is the credit of the people of the nation as well as the state. He said that he had introduced VAT in the House when it was being implemented in 2005 in Jharkhand.

Some people had doubt about it but later it earned revenue for the state. Still there are some irregularities in taxation system as it varies from state to state. With its implementation, corruption could be reined, tax default will stop, black money will be controlled and there will be uniformity in the whole nation.

Referring the traders as pride of the nation, the CM said that they will be given facilities. The govt. will give all sorts of facilities to the investors. People are ready to offer land and we are successful in making an ambience for investment in the state. Implementation of GST will increase the investors’ trust.

Prior to this, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Rai said that the GST bill has been introduced as 122nd bill. This bill is related with the taxes collected by Center and States. For its implementation, at least half of the states should support it. He said that implementing GST will strengthen economy of the nation.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely thanked Chief Minister Raghubar Das on telephone for passing the GST Bill unanimously. Jharkhand has become the third state to pass GST Bill.
