Jharkhand Assembly elections to be led by Babulal Marandi: Shivraj Singh Chauhan

Ranchi, June 24: The Jharkhand state BJP has initiated preparations for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for November or December this year. These elections coincide with assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir. It has been decided that the state president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi will lead the party through the elections. Despite Babulal Marandi’s efforts in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP was unable to secure all 14 seats in Jharkhand, falling short of replicating the 2019 results of 12 seats, plus one by the AJSU Party. However, the newly appointed in-charge for the assembly elections and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has affirmed the party’s trust in Marandi’s leadership.

This announcement underscores the BJP’s continued faith in Babulal Marandi, a prominent tribal leader. The BJP’s assembly election in-charge, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma recently visited Jharkhand for the first time in their new roles. They held meetings with state officials, MPs, and MLAs of the party. During these meetings, Chauhan highlighted the party’s efforts, noting that the BJP secured nine parliamentary seats and led in 52 assembly constituencies.

Post-election reviews revealed issues of factionalism and discord within the party, such as conflicts between Nishikant Dubey and Narayan Das in Deoghar and disputes involving Dumka candidate Sita Soren and MLA Randhir Singh. Despite these challenges, Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that the NDA won nine out of 14 seats in Jharkhand, with the BJP leading in 52 assembly seats, indicating that factionalism was not a significant concern.

Given these results, Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s confidence in Babulal Marandi was evident, and Marandi will be granted significant responsibility leading up to the assembly elections. He will play a crucial role in election strategy, candidate selection, and other key issues. The upcoming assembly elections will determine Babulal Marandi’s effectiveness and relevance in Jharkhand politics, marking a critical juncture in his political career.
