Ranchi, September 5: State health minister Banna Gupta chaired a meeting of the state level supervisory body at Ranchi on Tuesday and directed for inspection and monitoring of all registered ultrasound clinics.
It was also directed that if the PCPNDT ACT and Clinical Establishment ACT are not followed in the ultrasound clinic in any district of the state, action will be taken against the concerned district.
It was directed that it was mandatory to display posters and other propaganda materials against sex determination and prevention of feticide in ultrasound clinics in all districts of the state.
Under the Mukhbir Yojana, a continuous special investigation campaign should be conducted in all the districts to identify such ultrasound clinics, where sex determination tests are done illegally, and immediate action should be taken against the person or doctor responsible for it.
“For the identification of pregnant women undergoing ultrasound, a copy of their valid identity card with photo should be kept in the ultrasound clinic. Civil surgeons of all the districts will be directed that if PCPNDT ACT and Clinical Establishment ACT are not followed in the ultrasound clinic in any district, then strict action will be taken against the responsible officer in that district,’ said Gupta.
In the context of PCPNDT ACT, the Minister directed to spread public awareness in the state through wide publicity regarding PCPNDT ACT] Clinical Establishment ACT and informant scheme to prevent sex determination and female feticide.
Congress MLAs Purnima Singh and Deepika Pandey also presented their views at the meeting.
Additional chief secretary health, Arun Kumar Singh directed for fresh selection of non-official members in the district level supervision board.
He said that it is necessary to have the names and telephone numbers of the members in the monitoring committee constituted at the district level. Regular and review meetings of the committee should be held. The name and telephone number of the civil surgeon, doctor and any one responsible official from the state level should be made available at all ultrasound clinics.
