Jamshedpur: Volunteers of Jeevan, Suicide Prevention Centre, conducted a half-day workshop for about 50 MBA students of Arka Jain University. A few faculty members were also present. They were educated on the difference between stress, anxiety and depression. They were also told about the signs and symptoms of the three. The workshop included certain activities to make them understand the subject better.
“Mental health should be given as much importance as physical health. Stress not attended to on time can lead to depression and depression if left unattended may give rise to feelings of self-harm. Hence they were requested to seek help in case of feeling stressed, depressed or suicidal, ” said an official.
The students were taught steps to be taken to manage anxiety and stress. They gave a feedback that the learning from this workshop would help them tackle the challenges of life in future.
Under the guidance of stress management expert, the workshop provided a comprehensive understanding of stress, its effects on mental and physical health, and effective strategies for coping with stress. Through interactive discussions, group activities, and practical exercises, students gained valuable insights into recognizing stress triggers and implementing practical techniques to reduce its impact.
One of the workshop’s primary objectives was to create awareness about the detrimental effects of unchecked stress on students’ overall well-being and academic performance. By shedding light on this issue, participants were encouraged to take proactive steps towards better stress management and to seek help when needed.
The workshop agenda covered a range of topics related to stress management, including time management, effective study techniques, relaxation techniques, and self-care practices. Students were introduced to techniques such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, and physical activities that promote relaxation and mental clarity. Additionally, the facilitator emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and building a support network to navigate challenging times.
“The workshop provided us with practical strategies that we can incorporate into our daily lives to manage stress effectively. It helped us realize that stress is a normal part of life, but we have the power to control its impact on us,” shared a participant who found the workshop immensely beneficial.
As the stress management workshop concluded, students left with a renewed sense of resilience and determination to implement the learned techniques in their daily lives. The positive impact of the workshop is expected to extend beyond the event itself, benefiting the students’ mental well-being, academic performance, and overall quality of life in the long run.
