�Jeevan� calendar with Gandhi sketches launched in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Jan 12: An inter-school competition was organised by ‘Jeevan’, whereby sketches on positive moments of Gandhiji’s life were invited, on a theme �150 years of Mahatma Gandhi�

Amitava Ghosh of Kalamandir evaluated and selected the entries to be printed in the calendar of �Jeevan�.

�Jeevan’ got this calendar printed with support from INTACH, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage

It was launched on Saturday, January 11 at a city hotel by the chief guest Dr. Ashok Kumar Jha ‘Avichal’, Proctor, Kolhan University in the presence of the guest of honour, Amitava Ghosh.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Jha ‘Avichal’ and Amitava Ghosh said that the Calendar should be made a regular activity to help the citizens of Jamshedpur.

Certificates and mementos were given to students, whose sketches have been included in the calendar. The calendar has Jeevan�s address and phone numbers, which would help the stressed, depressed, desperate and suicidal people to contact for emotional support.

The calendar would also be available at Biponi, N Road, Bistupur.

Dr J. R. Jain, Director, Jeevan and Dr M Ram, Founder Director Jeevan appreciated the ceaseless efforts of volunteers for implementing different strategies to  enhance awareness about Suicides.

Principals of schools also attended the launch. A refresher training program for volunteers was subsequently conducted to improve the skills of befriending.
