Adani Group Commits $100 Billion to Power India’s AI Infrastructure

Visakhapatnam (IANS): Jeet Adani, Director of the Adani Group, announced a massive $100 billion commitment on Tuesday to build the foundational platform for India’s artificial intelligence (AI) growth. Speaking at the foundation stone ceremony for the Google AI Data Centre in Visakhapatnam, Adani emphasized that domestic infrastructure at scale remains key to India leading the global AI era.

An Integrated Energy and Digital Platform

Adani outlined a strategy that merges energy generation, transmission, and digital networks into a single resilient platform. He noted that the future of AI depends heavily on energy affordability.

“Our role is to enable the ecosystem that AI depends on,” Adani told the gathering. “For AI to transform economies and societies, it must be affordable. And affordability begins with energy.”

The Google Partnership: A Historic Investment

Google will invest $15 billion in the project, marking one of the largest foreign direct investments (FDI) in India’s history. Developed alongside partners like AdaniConneX, this $15 billion campus will represent the largest AI data center outside the United States. It will utilize the same cutting-edge infrastructure that powers global products like Google Search, Workspace, and YouTube.

Visakhapatnam: The New Anchor for AI

While Bengaluru defined India’s initial tech revolution, Adani believes Visakhapatnam will anchor its AI revolution. He highlighted the sheer scale of the transformation by comparing current national capacity to the new project:

• Current National Capacity: Approximately 1.3 GW of data center capacity nationwide.
• Visakhapatnam Vision: Nearly 1 GW of capacity in a single location.

Democratizing Intelligence

Adani stated that falling computing and energy costs will make intelligence more affordable, accelerating innovation and inclusive growth. “India will architect intelligence and India will democratise intelligence by expanding access to it,” he concluded, citing India’s core advantages as trust, execution, and reliable energy.
