JEE Mains Jamshedpur: Candidates from rural areas face problems

Jamshedpur, Sept. 3: Amidst fear of coronavirus, students in large numbers participated in the third day of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2020 that began on September 1.�

With throbbing Students were seen arriving at two test centers in Jamshedpur- ION Digital on Dimna Road and Al-Kabir Polytechnic in Mango. The exam was held in two shifts 9 AM to 12 AM and 3 PM to 6 PM.

On day three candidates were seen entering examination centres following social distancing norms.� Students were in the queue before entering the exam centre.�The temperatures of candidates were examined at the entry gates itself.

However, according to information there are several students from rural areas, who are facing hardships in reaching the examination centres. � I belong to Baharagora and had to cross 90 KM to reach the examination centre. Though busses are plying but due to the fear of virus I had to hire a private cab to reach the exam centre,� said a candidate. He said that despite following all the guidelines he is still in fear of catching the virus.  

 The entire examination area and its surroundings are sanitized before each shift. Monitors, keyboards, icons, webcams, desks, and chairs were also sanitized. As per government guidelines students are made to sit in a gap of two seats. Hand sanitizer is kept for students and staff outside the examination center (entry point) and at many places inside.

No one was allowed to leave the exam room before the exam got over. The National Testing Agency or NTA is conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main from September 1-6, 2020, and for this, the Centre has finalised the standard operating procedure (SOP) to conduct the examination amid the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Around 23,000 students are supposed to appear for the JEE Mains exams at eight centres spread across five cities Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh till September 6.
