JCAPCPL inaugurates 12 ponds in Patamda Block with support of Tata Steel Foundation

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing & Processing Company Private Limited (JCAPCPL) inaugurated twelve pond farms in Patamda Block today. Under the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, the project was made successful with the guidance and support of Tata Steel Foundation.

The inauguration of the pond was done by Mr. Ujjal Chakraborti, MD of JCAPCPL, and Mr. Sourav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation. The inauguration was a significant event attended by all the beneficiaries of the project. Villagers shared their inspiring stories, highlighting how Integrated Farming System (IFS) has substantially increased their incomes and improved their quality of life. Duryodhan Mahato, one of the pond farmers shared how his yearly income increased by two lakhs by investing thirty thousand, in 75ft x 75ft x 10ft of pond (approx. 13 decimal). The pond is used for multi-purpose activity like fish farming, livestock rearing, cultivation of vegetables and horticultural plants on pond bund.

Speaking at the event Mr. Roy said, “People of Jharkhand, Odisha and Bengal have made the integrated farming system a big success because they understand their relationship with land and water.” “This project plays a great role in climate resilience, I appreciate JCAPCPL for their unwavering support for this project and we will work together to make this project profitable for the villagers”, he further mentioned.

Parikshit Mahato, the Gram Pradhan of Hurumbil Village and Gurucharan Hembram, Mukhiya, Bankunchiya Gram Panchayat of Patamda Block, East Singhbhum were also present, underscoring the community’s strong support for this initiative. Expressing his happiness, Mr.Chakraborti said, “I am happy to hear the monetary benefit people received from integrated farming system.” He further appreciated Tata Steel Foundation for the incredible relationship they have developed with the villagers. Mr. Chakraborti, also requested all the villagers to educate their children stressing on the fact that the development of the country depends on them.

This IFS is a testament to the collaborative efforts of JCAPCPL and Tata Steel Foundation in promoting sustainable development and improving livelihoods in the region. Mr. R Rabi Prasad, President, JCAPCPL Workers Union, appreciated the collaborative effort being done by JCAPCPL and Tata Steel Foundation towards the development of people and its surroundings. “The IFS not only help the farmers but also maintains the ground level water,” he further mentioned.

“Continuing our journey towards sustainability, we will be doing more such projects in future”, said  Ajay Kumar Singh, CHRO, JCAPCPL. Singh thanked all the attendees from JCAPCPL, Tata Steel Foundation and Hurumbil Village for their support and presence at the inauguration ceremony.
