Jayalalithaa acquitted in disproportionate assets case

Bengaluru, May 11 (IANS) A special bench of the Karnataka High Court on Monday acquitted former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate assets case in which she was convicted and sentenced for four years’ imprisonment by a trial court on September 27, 2014.

Pronouncing the verdict, single-judge bench of Justice C.R. Kumaraswamy said all the charges on which Jayalalithaa was convicted and sentenced by the trial court were not sustainable and upheld her appeal.
