Jamshedpur : JARMA (Jamshedpur Accident Response and Medical Assistance) which took off in Jamshedpur jointly with Medica Hospitals, now managing Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Tata Steel and Jharkhand Police for the citizens of Jamshedpur with three prime motto to provide immediate response to accident victims without delay, provision of proper medical assistance on the spot and ensuring reaching of the accident victim to the nearest Hospital from the accident site for immediate treatment is getting tremendous response.
The project was flagged off on 31 August, 2014 jointly by Managing Director, Tata Steel and Director General of Police, Jharkhand at Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital premises.
With a fleet of six ambulances each stationed in six different police stations of Jamshedpur; Bistupur, Sakchi, MGM, Golmuri, Parsudih and Kadma it has true to its commitment has reached the accident site within minutes (on an average within five to ten minutes) and has extended necessary medical assistance.
It has also rushed many a times the serious and critical cases to the nearest hospitals for immediate life saving measures.
In the last two months of its operation in September 2014 and October 2014 it has responded to 198 calls. Out of 198 calls received, 101 accident victims were transported to the nearest hospital.
The golden hours which is very crucial in extending immediate medical assistance to the victims who met with an accident has thus saved many lives and many families for the catastrophe.
Sixteen victims who refused to go to any hospital were provided First Aid treatment at the accident site itself remaining were not affected much needing no medical treatment.
Compared to the month of September the faith and confidence of the people of Jamshedpur in JARMA in the ensuing month of October has increased by nearly 25%. In September while 88 calls were responded the figure rose to 110 in October.
Similarly from 44 numbers in September the figure rose to 57 numbers in October who were rushed to the nearest hospital.
JARMA numbers are functional round the clock and one can call up either 100 or 0657 6600100 and within five to ten minutes the nearest ambulance will be at the site of the road accident.
