Jamshedpur, October 16: Social organization, Jan Satyagraha has expressed concern over increased parking of heavy vehicles along the main roads in Burmamines, particularly from the taxi stand (Durga Puja Ground) to Tube Company, from Tube Company to Cable Town Road and from the taxi stand to East Plant Colony.
The organization informed the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Officer, Dhalbhum, that illegal parking of large vehicles along the main thoroughfares had become regular features leading to frequent accidents. Many of these heavy vehicles lack the required number of drivers and helpers, violating safety norms.
Jan Satyagraha questioned why heavy vehicles were not subjected to the same strict norms as in the cases of two-wheelers, where all documents were thoroughly inspected. The organization emphasized the need for immediate investigation and enforcement of traffic regulations on heavy vehicles, stating that such actions could help prevent numerous accidents.
The organization had previously raised this issue on 30th July 2019, 27th September 2021, and most recently, on 4th October 2024. The organization alleged that after brief action, the matter was reportedly dropped under pressure.
Jan Satyagraha urged the authorities to take decisive and permanent legal action to ensure road safety and prevent further accidents.
