DEO and SSP inspect EVM Dispatch Centers in Jamshedpur ahead of Jharkhand Polls

Jamshedpur: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024, District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)  Kishore Kaushal conducted an inspection of LBSM College, Karandih, and Cooperative College. These locations have been designated as the EVM dispatch and receiving centers for the election. The inspection was focused on ensuring that the necessary infrastructure and arrangements are in place for the smooth dispatch of polling parties and the safe handling of EVMs.

LBSM College will serve as the dispatch center for polling parties from the 44-Baharagora, 45-Ghatshila, and 46-Potka assembly constituencies, while Cooperative College will handle dispatch for the 47-Jugsalai, 48-Jamshedpur East, and 49-Jamshedpur West constituencies. Following the polling, EVM sets from all constituencies will be received at Cooperative College.

During their inspection,  Mittal and  Kaushal provided clear instructions to the officials present to ensure the smooth deployment of polling parties. The Executive Engineer of the Building Construction Department was tasked with completing the construction of strong rooms for the storage of EVMs at both locations, covering three constituencies each. Additional instructions were given regarding the installation of barricades within the campuses where necessary.

The senior officials emphasized the importance of seamless logistical coordination on election day. This included ensuring the proper distribution of election materials, the maintenance of EVM VVPAT units, and organizing adequate parking facilities for polling party vehicles as well as vehicles of officials. Key focus was also given to ensuring the availability of basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, and electricity at the dispatch centers. Medical support, a help desk, and seating arrangements for reserve staff, micro observers, and medical teams were also discussed.
