Jamshedpur: City-based social organization Jan Satyagrah has alleged that labour rights were being violated rampantly across companies in and around Jamshedpur.
The outfit member Manjeet Kumar Mishra said there were companies who were exploiting workers and terminating their services under pretext of fitness issue. He said the arbitrary action by such companies was seriously affecting the lives of workers who were left with no choice but to face sacking or suspension.
There are companies which are threatening to sack their employees in the name of fitness, security and code of conduct. This is just a way of exploiting the workers. This should not be tolerated since it would only promote such irresponsible and despotic behavior of the companies, said Mishra.
A delegation comprising members of Jan Satyagrah met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar and handed over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand to him demanding action against such companies. Six main demands related to the rights and present condition of workers have been raised in the memorandum, said the outfit members.
Among others present during the meeting with DC included Mahesh Paswan, Durga Prasad, Satendra Sharma, Jeet Arya, Pawan Upadhyaya, Umesh Upadhyaya, Ravi Raj, Pappu Kumar and Anil Kumar Singh.
