Jamshedpur: City-based social organization Jan Satyagrah has threatened to wage a massive agitation in support of its demand for total ban on liquor in Jharkhand.
The outfit members said the state government should declare Jharkhand as a liquor-free state as soon as possible. They said that any delay would only mar the larger interest of the people of the state.
In a meeting held on the liquor issue here on Saturday, the outfit member Sanjay Singh said the neighbouring state of Bihar had set an example for the other states to follow by prohibiting liquor. He said the Jharkhand government should ban liquor without any further delay.
Besides the liquor ban demand, many other issues were discussed during the meeting. The issue of drinking water crisis during summer season was also raised at the meeting.
