Jamshedpur, July 22:Padma Shri Jamuna Tudu visited President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday.
She invited the President to visit Chakulia on June 5, 2024, on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Jamuna Tudu told women who are engaged in saving forests do not get honorarium from the government. If they get honorarium, they will protect forests with more enthusiasm. These days the nuisance of elephants has increased in Chakulia and Baharagora. Many lives have been lost due to elephant attack. The dependent of the deceased gets 4 lakh compensation from the government. It should be increased to Rs 10 lakh. On the destruction of crops and houses, a provision should be made to pay compensation within 7 days.
Jamuna Tudu said that the Airport is not being constructed due to the elephant corridor in Dhalbhumgarh.
In such a situation, it may be possible to construct an airport in Chakulia.

Great initiative for the airport! But Chakulia as the site makes no sense given it is about 80 kms from the town in the middle of nowhere. Dhalbhumgarh itself made no sense and it was 1hr drive from the town. Do better!
