Jamshedpur’s ‘Viral Boy Dhoom’ Beats Drug Addiction, Turns Brand Ambassador

Jamshedpur: The Astitva Foundation—an organization working towards an addiction-free India—hosted a special event on Thursday to celebrate a major victory in the fight against substance abuse.

During the event, the foundation officially declared internet sensation ‘Viral Boy Dhoom’, Pintu Prasad, drug-free. The foundation honoured him with a certificate of completion following his successful treatment and rehabilitation.

The Backstory: Who is ‘Viral Boy Dhoom’?

Months ago, a video went viral across Indian social media platforms showing a young man in a state of severe intoxication, making bizarre gestures and calling himself ‘Dhoom’.

While the internet turned the video into a viral meme for entertainment, the Astitva Foundation recognized his critical health condition and stepped in to help.

“Dhoom had fallen deep into drug addiction,” said Sourav Tiwari, founder of the Astitva Foundation. “We admitted him to our rehabilitation centre on December 15 last year. Following medical treatment, psychological counselling, and a structured rehab process, he has now completed his recovery.”

Five Other Youths Beat Addiction

The recovery milestone extended beyond ‘Dhoom’. The foundation also declared five other youths—Shahrukh Alam, Subhaan Ansari, Anshuman Singh, Rajiv Mishra, and Rohan Mukhi—completely drug-free after completing their respective rehabilitation programs.

The foundation announced that all six youths have now returned to mainstream society. Moving forward, they will serve as brand ambassadors for the Astitva Foundation, actively educating peers and helping build an addiction-free community.

An Appeal to Unite Against Drugs

Highlighting the devastating impact of substance abuse, Sourav Tiwari noted that addiction destroys entire families and fuels societal issues like crime, theft, domestic violence, road accidents, and unemployment.

“With the right guidance and a strong will, escaping the swamp of addiction is absolutely possible,” added co-founder Pratik Singh. He appealed to the public to change their perspective on individuals battling substance abuse. “Instead of ostracizing those struggling with addiction, society must offer them support, empathy, and access to proper medical treatment.”
