Jamshedpur, Dec. 11: Athletics Federation of India (AFI) organised a seminar for the ‘announcers and event presentation managers in the modern era’ on 30 and 31 July 2020. The online seminar saw national and international announcers and sports event management specialists. They shared their experience and gave insight into the new technology being used. The seminar was in line with the mission to give fans a great experience at all levels, from National to district meets.
In the second phase two-day seminar was conducted on 17 and 18 August which saw announcers of international repute share their experience with select announcers from different states of India. They also made Indian announcers aware about the latest technology being used and changes that have been brought in athletics world. Later on 19 and 20 August a screening test was conducted. The announcers who cleared the test will be part of the panel that will play the role of sports announcers in future national and international level sports events to be held in India.
Representing Jharkhand, emerging announcer from Jamshedpur and district sports convener Shyam Kumar Sharma has also cleared the screening test conducted by Athletics Federation of India and will be part of the announcer’s panel.
Congratulatory messages started pouring in for Shyam Sharma as soon as his selection was confirmed. Indian Olympic Association treasurer cum Jharkhand Athletics Association (JAA) President Madhukant Pathak, JAA secretary CD Singh, Jharkhand Athletics team coach Arvind Kumar, District sports Officer Budan Pahan, East Singhbhum district athletic association President MN Purty and others wished him luck.
