Jamshedpur, April 12: Shibu Burman has been re-elected unopposed as the Chairman of the Jharkhand chapter of the Builder Association of India. Burman’s renewed tenure, spanning from 2024 to 2025, underscores his continued leadership and commitment within the realm of real estate development.

Having previously served a successful term in 2023-24, Burman’s re-election comes as a testament to his exemplary leadership and unwavering dedication. The decision to reinstate him as chairman was met with unanimous approval by the association’s committees, reflecting a vote of confidence from organizations across Jamshedpur, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Hazaribagh.

Raju John, the Returning Officer of the Builder Association of India, formally announced Burman’s election as President of the Jharkhand Chapter, with official notifications dispatched to all concerned stakeholders.

Following his re-election, Shibu Burman expressed gratitude for the continued trust bestowed upon him by district committees, attributing his success to his consistent engagement with real estate affairs. Notably, Burman highlighted the ongoing scrutiny mandated by the Jharkhand High Court regarding deviations in real estate practices, emphasizing the association’s steadfast commitment to addressing these concerns. He affirmed his personal vigilance in overseeing these matters, ensuring accountability and adherence to regulations within the industry.

Real estate woes persist in Jharkhand despite abundance of sand ghats

Shibu Burman, Chairman of Builder Association of Jharkhand, has voiced concerns over the persistent challenges faced by the real estate sector in Jharkhand, particularly regarding the availability of sand. Despite the presence of countless sand ghats in the region, real estate developers continue to grapple with issues related to sand procurement, impacting numerous projects across the state.

Burman emphasized the urgent need for the association to present its perspective on this matter and address the challenges at hand. He highlighted his previous advocacy efforts, particularly regarding the issue of constructing buildings up to G+2 levels, which yielded positive outcomes. However, the ongoing sand scarcity poses a significant hurdle for development initiatives in Jharkhand.

In a proactive move, Burman announced plans to engage with state authorities, including the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and officials from the Urban Development Department, to seek prompt resolutions to the sand supply issue. He underscored the need for swift action, citing the detrimental effects of delayed project commencements due to challenges in map drawing and approval processes.

Additionally, Burman revealed plans to organize a state-level seminar focused on the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), aimed at facilitating smoother completion of high-rise projects. With hopes of expanding development beyond urban centers to surrounding areas, he urged the government to prioritize infrastructure development, particularly the establishment of a robust road network to facilitate seamless vehicular movement.
