Jamshedpur, July 28:  Roshan Jha, a resident of Chhota Govindpur, has been honored with the prestigious ‘Rashtra Gaurav Shri’ Award by Parivartan Yogesh (National, Cultural, and Social Welfare Institution) in New Delhi for his exceptional achievement in translating the 700 verses of the Bhagavad Gita into Hindi Chaupais (quatrains). The award was bestowed upon him in recognition of his tireless efforts spanning 27 years to create the book ‘Gita Amrit’ in the form of Hindi Chaupais.

Inspired by renowned poet Tulsidas, Roshan Jha composed the verses of Bhagavad Gita in the format of Chaupais. Each Chaupai consists of four stanzas, with 16 syllables in each stanza, and concludes with a Guru (teacher).

Originally hailing from Rajgram in Madhubani district, Bihar, Roshan Jha commenced this endeavour on October 22, 1995. His unwavering dedication and deep reverence for the Bhagavad Gita drove him to persevere in his 27-year-long journey, during which he did not experience a moment of discouragement.

To ensure the authenticity and integrity of each verse, Roshan Jha sought guidance from various sources, including the actual Bhagavad Gita and other religious versions including those by ISKCON and Swami Dayanand. He was meticulous in preserving the essence of the meaning and emotions of each verse.

This achievement has not only earned Roshan Jha national acclaim but also stands as a testament to the transformative power of the Bhagavad Gita. The ‘Gita Amrit’ captures the essence of this timeless scripture, inspiring readers with its poetic brilliance and spiritual wisdom. (w/gsd)
