Jamshedpur’s Priya Sharma sets world record in Upavistha Konasana

Jamshedpur, Nov 20: Priya Sharma, a gifted yoga practitioner from Jugsalai, has etched her name into the Ingenious Charm World Records by holding the Upavistha Konasana for an impressive 15 minutes and 11 seconds. This remarkable feat has brought immense pride to Jugsalai, Jamshedpur and the entire state of Jharkhand.

Priya holds an M.A. in Yoga from Jamshedpur Women’s College and is currently serving as a yoga instructor at Tranquil Wellness in Bengaluru. Beyond yoga, she is an accomplished dance instructor skilled in various dance forms, including Zumba and contemporary dance.

Reflecting on her achievement, Priya shared that her mission was to inspire the youth to embrace yoga. She stated that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued to elevate yoga on the global stage, it was equally the responsibility of the country’s youth to make yoga an integral part of their everyday lives. She emphasized that in today’s fast-paced and stressful world, yoga offered the most effective path to physical, mental and spiritual harmony.

Priya dedicated her success to her family, expressing gratitude to her mother, Rashmi Devi Sharma and her uncle, Ramji Sharma, whose constant support and encouragement had been her greatest strength. She also thanked her coach, Mandeep Singh, acknowledging that consistent training, discipline, nutritional guidance and two months of rigorous practice made this world record possible.

Priya observed, “Yoga is the union of body, mind and spirit. Embrace it and experience balance and peace in life.”
