Jamshedpur, March 24: A new initiative has been taken in Jharkhand to save the environment. As a part of the ambitious plan, a total of 19 new crematoriums are being built across the city. They will come up at Jugsalai Mahakaleshwar Ghat, Chaibasa, Seraikela and Gamharia besides other parts of the state. These crematoriums will be eco-friendly and use LPG to cremate dead bodies. The project is in the last phase in Seraikela and Gamharia.

According to sources, the work at Mahakaleshwar Ghat in Jugsalai is expected to be completed by the month of May. Four such projects have been allotted to an agency here. It is being made in collaboration with JUDCO. The work is going on in full swing to start 15 more such crematoriums in Jharkhand, sources said.
Around Rs 3 crore will be spent on building each crematorium. All the crematoriums will be completed within the new financial year. Such crematoriums will replace traditional crematoriums running on electricity and firewood.
