Jamshedpur: Three seasoned arbiters from Jamshedpur, Jayant Kumar Bhuyan, Chandan Kumar Prasad, and Vishal Kumar Minz, have been appointed as arbiters for the prestigious Tata Steel Asian Junior Open and Girls Chess Championship 2023.
This was informed by NK Tiwary, Gen. Secretary of East Singhbhum District Chess Association.
Jayant Bhuyan, a veteran chess arbiter from Jharkhand, boasts international recognition and has presided over numerous FIDE tournaments, including the World Team Championship in 1993 (Calicut) and the Commonwealth Championship 2008 (Nagpur).
Chandan Kumar Prasad, a FIDE arbiter, is actively involved in training students in schools and runs his own Academy.
Vishal Kumar Minz, a prominent figure in state chess competitions, recently earned the prestigious title of International Arbiter from FIDE.
The championship is set to take place from September 7th to September 15th at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
The event is being organized by the All India Chess Federation in collaboration with the Asian Chess Federation, FIDE, and the Union Sports Ministry, with support from the All Jharkhand Chess Association.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for September 7th, will be graced by the presence of chess icon Viswanathan Anand as the chief guest.
