Jamshedpur’s Ghorabandha residents trapped in electricity theft, Ankit writes to DC and Power Secretary

Jamshedpur, Nov 24: BPL card holders of Rajabasti in Khapchadungri of Ghorabandha, are stuck with electricity connection these days. The connections of the card holder have been disconnected due to non-payment of electricity bills by the officials of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited. At the same time, bills ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 are being charged. The consumers are feeling helpless.

After the matter came to light, BJP leader Ankit Anand met the officials of the electricity department and requested for a proper solution in this matter. Despite this, the department filed a case against many poor residents of Khapchadungari village for unpaid bills and electricity theft.

Meanwhile, former BJP district spokesperson Ankit on Wednesday wrote a letter to the state’s energy secretary and JBVNL general manager Avinash Kumar, along with DC Suraj Kumar of East Singhbhum district. He has requested for appropriate intervention from the Electricity Department and DC so that the solution can be resolved through mediation, so that the dignity of the department is maintained and the self-respect of the poor also remains intact.

In his letter, BJP leader Ankit Anand has requested to ensure the initiative in the matter by Sunday by suggesting six points. In the event of no hearing, Ankit Anand has warned to start a begging movement.

He has demanded that the problems of rural electricity connection holders should be ensured by organizing camps in Khapchadungri and Raja Basti. The case registered in Govindpur police station against the poor people of Khapchadungri and Raja Basti should be ended by conciliation after considering them sympathetically. The huge electricity bills of these villagers should be waived or arrangements should be made for payment in 6 to 10 installments. Action should be taken to connect the disconnected electricity connections immediately. BPL connection holders should replace the electricity meter burnt due to faulty/short circuit at the earliest. Electricity bills should be paid regularly to the said villagers so that they do not face any problem in payment of dues.
