Jamshedpur’s father-daughter suicide case: Health minister, BJP leaders assure justice to family, question marks on Bistupur police role

Jamshedpur, July 2: Jamshedpur police has sent the investigating officer in the case of the Paramjeet Saini, an accused in the sexual assault of the deceased Pritpal Singh Saini’s wife, has been sent to police barrack as a reprimand for dereliction of duty. However, question marks are being raised on why stern measures like suspension were not taken against the concerned police official posted at Bistupur thana, Amrendra Mandal whose negligence led to the Pritpal Singh Saini and his daughter committing suicide. 

Questions are also being raised as the Bistupur thana official Amendra Mandal did not even heed to the order of Jamshedpur city SP Subhash Chandra Jatt for prompt action in the case and why was not an abetment to suicide case lodged against the police ofifcial. 

Tata Steel employee Pritpal Singh Saini along with his elder daughter Baljit Saini had committed suicide by coming under a train near Jugsalai Railway crossing on Wednesday late evening. 
A case had been lodged by the deceased employee’s wife, Nisha in Jugsalai thana against Gangotri Apartment, Bistupur resident Paramjeet Singh Saini, Rajendra Singh Bittu, a resident of Tinplate in Golmuri and Rajendra’s wife Harjit Kaur for abetment of suicide. 

Both Pramjeet and Harjit Singh are brothers of the deceased Pritpal Singh who used to stay in Q Road in Bistupur with his wife and two daughters. Jugsalai police recovered a suicide note in which the deceaed had blamed Paramjit, Jaswir Kaur, Rajendra Singh, Harjit Singh and Harjit’s wife for his suciide and cited the case number 222/2020 in Bistupur thana in which the deceased’s wife had lodged serious allegation of rape against Paramjeet Singh on December 16, 2020. The suicide note states that he was being harassed by big leaders and intimated by criminals to withdraw the case from Bistupur thana. An arrest warrant was issued on December 2020 but still his brother was not arrested. 
Jugslai police claim that in the CCTV footage it is noticed that both the deceased father and daughter were seen roaming nea the Jugsalai railway crossing and writing something on a paper. 

Meanwhile, Paramjeet Singh after knowing about the suicide and recovery of the suicide note surrendered in the CJM court on Thursday. He has surrendered in a case of rape and had absconding in the same case since December 16, 2020 after his bail petition had been rejected by district session judge and Jharkhand High Court. 
State DGP Niraj Sinha has taken cognizance of the case and stressed that nobody involved in the abetment of suicide of the father and daughter would be spared and strict action would be taken after a probe. 

Jharkhand health minister Banna Gupta who is also the local (Jamshedpur West) legislator reached the Bistupur residence of the deceased father and daughter and assured to meet the state DGP and home secretary for a prompt and fair probe in the case and conduct a speedy trial for quick justice to the perpetrators of such heinous crime. 

Meanwhile, BJP state leader Rita Mishra along with BJP city leaders also visited the residence of the deceased family and assured to do whatever the party could do to ensure justice to the family and demanded strict punishment to the guilty persons and the police officials responsible for shoddy probe.
