IGU organises Amateur Tournament at Beldih Golf Course
Jamshedpur, Oct 22: The Indian Golf Union (IGU) organised eighth tournament of IGU Eastern India Amateur Golf Feeder Tour, the Beldih Amateur 2021 at Beldih Golf Course on October 21-22.
The event was for various age groups, starting from children to senior and super senior categories.
Total of 42 participants in all categories were part of the tournament on both the days. The event organised by IGU is an Eastern India level tournament and finals will be played in December 2021 at Kolkata.
Jamshedpur lad Armaan Parikh carded a two over 74 in the final round to end up with a tournament total of three over 147 to emerge victorious.
The overnight leader Parikh had a two stroke advantage coming into Friday’s round, and it was on the man of the moment to lose the grip on the trophy.
But he never looked like he was going to slip it thanks to his brilliant all-around display all through the final day. In the end, he managed to hold on to his first round lead to secure the title.
Bimal Singh Sardar, another Jamshedpurian shot a round of two over 74 to grab the second spot while his close friend Prakash Lohar even after closing off with a same tournament total had to be satisfied with the third spot because of the higher back nine count. In the Mid Amateur, Satyaranjan Patnaik returned with a score of 81 to emerge victorious while Sanjeev Kumar took second place following a round of 94.
Kuo Thai Chiang carded 81 to win the Senior category. PK Dhawans 91 ensured him the second spot. Air Marshal JN Burma shot 113 to win the Super Senior division. In Juniors, Avyukt Sonthalia fired 50 in the final round (9 Hole) to come home as the winner while Arnav Kumar Singh’s 49 was good enough for a 2nd place finish
The prize distribution ceremony was held at Beldih Golf Course on Friday, October 22. The Council Member of IGU and Chief, Protocol & Sports, Tata Steel, Farzan Heerjee was present. He gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
Also present were Alan Singh, Chief Administrator of Jamshedpur Golf, and former Olympian Anand Menezes.
Golfers from Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Jabalpur participated in the event. Dr. Anil Kumar was referee of the tournament.
Farzan Heerjee thanked Tata Steel Sports Division and Beldih Club for the successful conduct of the tournament.
