Jamshedpur, Sept 25: A a 24-year-old youth lost his life in a tragic accident on the Tata-Kandra road under the jurisdiction of Adityapur thana.
Another youth, identified as Surjan Singh, was critically injured in the same mishapt, which occurred late on Sunday night. The incident unfolded when the two youths were riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle on the Tata-Kandra road near RIT Mode around midnight.
Tragically, their journey was cut short when they were struck by an unknown vehicle, resulting in immediate fatality for one and severe injuries for the other.
The identity of the deceased victim is yet to be established. The injured youth was swiftly identified and attended to by emergency services.
A concerned passerby, Amitesh Singh, promptly informed the JRDCL ambulance and Adityapur police about the accident. The ambulance team rushed to the scene and transported both victims to Tata Main Hospital, a 15-minute drive from the accident site. The medical team at the Emergency section declared one of them as brought dead upon arrival.
The surviving victim, Surjan, who hails from Gopalganj in Bihar, sustained grievous head injuries in the accident. He was referred to RIMS (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) for further medical treatment on Monday morning.
Adityapur thana Officer-in-Charge, Rajan Singh, stated that initial investigations suggest this was a case of a road mishap caused by an unidentified vehicle. He added, “Preliminary information indicates that the victims may have been employed at a beer bar in the Gamharia area and were returning home from their duty. The exact details of the incident will become clearer once the identity of the deceased victim is confirmed.”
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
