Jamshedpur: Youth gets 25 years in jail in rape case

Jamshedpur, June 16: In a landmark ruling, the District and Sessions Judge-I, Chaibasa, delivered justice by sentencing a 24-year-old youth to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for the alleged rape of a minor girl in the Keraikela Thana area of West Singhbhum in November 2021.

The court, specializing in cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, not only imposed a stringent sentence but also levied a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the convict. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional jail term for the accused.
