Jamshedpur, July 6: A 16 year-old boy, identified as Vikran Soni, drowned in Kharkai river at Baroda Ghat in Bagbera on Wednesday. His younger brother was somehow rescued by his friends. The body of the deceased could not be traced till late evening.
Sources said the tragedy occurred when Vikrant, his younger brother and his six friends went to Baroda Ghat for bathing in the river. Suddenly, Vikrant and his brother started drowning. His friends saved his brother but failed to rescue him, sources said.
The deceased had passed his Matriculation Board exam from Shyam Prasad High School and was about to get admission in LBSM College, Karandih. His father had gone to the college to submit his admission fee. He was informed about the incident over phone.
