Jamshedpur, March 23: A youth was arrested with a gun during the foundation laying ceremony organized at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, here on Thursday. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari was present at the venue. Alarmed by the arms recovery, police officials arrested the accused and took him to Bistupur police station for interrogation. The accused told cops he had a valid gun licence and gave a photocopy of the same to police. Police have asked him to bring the original papers.
Anjani Kumar, officer-in-charge, Bistupur police station, said people with arms licence could not take guns to prohibited areas without taking prior permission from the district administration.
