Jamshedpur: A blocked drain near the square on the DVC to JEMCO main road in Telco has left the area in deplorable condition, with dirty water flowing across the road and creating dangerous potholes. This ongoing issue has persisted for years, causing daily accidents and sparking outrage among local residents.
According to locals, the drain has not been cleaned or repaired in years, leading to waterlogging and the formation of large potholes, some as deep as a foot. “Accidents happen here every day. Neither the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) nor the local companies are paying attention to this hazard,” said Ramesh Kumar, a resident.
Despite repeated complaints to authorities, no action has been taken. “We have reached out to the JNAC several times, but they keep ignoring us. This negligence is putting lives at risk,” said Sunita Devi, another local resident.
Frustrated by the lack of response, locals are planning to escalate their protest. “If this drain and the potholes are not repaired within seven days, we will stage a roadblock movement with the support of slum dwellers,” warned Prakash Singh, a community leader.
The poor condition of the road has also caused significant damage to vehicles. Daily commuters report that navigating the road has become increasingly difficult. “It’s a nightmare for drivers. The potholes damage our vehicles, and the stagnant water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes,” said Rajesh Verma, a motorist.
The residents are now planning to meet MLA Purnima Das Sahu to demand immediate action. “We need this issue resolved urgently. Our safety and health are at stake,” added another resident.
The situation demands swift action from local authorities to prevent further accidents and alleviate the frustration of the Telco community.
